The Myrmur is a warrior caste wyrm in Wyrms of Nyrus.

Myrmurs are not a canonical caste to the Nyral Wyrms species. They were added for gameplay purposes.

They spawn rarely from wyrmling growths. If the Evolution system is enabled, evo points must be at 100 or higher for them to appear. Otherwise, workers will spawn in their place.

Ability

Myrmurs are the first wyrms to ever use Sapient AI. They're capable of recognizing doors and will break them down, more often than zombies do. (Configurable)

They sprint and rush at enemies, and sense through walls. When attacking or going into aggressive states, they will let out a series of noises. During sprint attacks, they move around 10% faster.

Myrmurs are 25% immune to all basic physical attacks.

Behavior

Myrmurs will wander around, looking for targets. They will target players, as well as spiders & silverfish (excluding endermites). They will often pathfind to doors, instead of crowding around walls.

They do not have a swarm mentality. They prefer to be alone, and will move away from other Myrmurs. Myrmurs move around rapidly as a result, and players can easily lose track of where one was supposed to be a few seconds ago. However, if forced into a cramped space, Myrmurs will swarm enemies, and then try to maintain distance from other Myrmurs after killing their target.

Trivia

  • Myrmurs are an easter egg mob, referencing Hollow Knight's bugs.
    • The fact that Myrmurs naturally attack spiders references how the bugs of Hollownest fight each other.
  • Myrmurs were a surprise drop when the mod got it's Modrinth release.
  • The name "Myrmur" is a portmanteau of "Wyrm" and "Murmur"
    • It's pronounced "Meer-mer" in American English dialects
  • The Myrmur model actually has fully modeled arms and hands under the cloak
  • Iké given a canonical confirmation on why Myrmurs like to be far away from each other.
    • "Wouldn't you want to spread out forces to make sure an area is clear? Clumping everything together [like what the hivemind system will do] means their forces aren't covering enough land. Myrmurs also hate smelling each other. Tell me, does bug blood and guts smell good?"
